About
The Town of Pendleton is launching a Culture & Identity Project to help discover a refreshed community story that reflects who we are, what we value, and where we are headed.
This effort will build on Pendleton’s historic character and strong sense of community to uncover a clear message and a new visual identity for the future.
As a community, we will discover a culture & identity that unifies our voices, builds civic pride, and supports economic development.
The Town has partnered with Destination by Design (DbD), a national place-branding firm, to facilitate a process grounded in research, storytelling, and community engagement.

We want to hear
YOUR story!
Community input is central to this process, and everyone’s perspective matters.
The survey will be open until April 30th, 2026.
Multiple online surveys for both youth and adults will also be available, giving everyone several ways to participate and help shape a culture & identity that reflects Pendleton’s history, spirit, and aspirations.
This is your opportunity to share:
- What you value most about Pendleton?
- What makes our town unique?
- How you want Pendleton to be perceived?
- What stories, places, and experiences should define its future?

The Full Process
1.
Discovery
We start by listening to Pendleton through community conversations, fieldwork, and public surveys. This phase helps identify what people value most and what should shape the Town’s future brand.
1a.
In-Person Sessions
Open community sessions where residents, business owners, and leaders are invited to share perspectives face-to-face.
1b.
Small Group Conversations
Roundtable conversations with over 100 invited partners representing multiple community organizations.
1c.
Online Survey
Open to the full community, multiple surveys will give both adults and youth opportunities to share input online.
2.
Strategy and Positioning
We turn community input into a clear strategy—defining Pendleton’s positioning, messaging, voice, and potential tagline directions. This creates the foundation for how the Town tells its own story.
3.
Logo and Visual Identity Design
We translate the strategy into a logo system, including colors, typography, and design elements that reflect Pendleton’s character and can be used across many applications.
4.
Implementation and Launch
We develop the tools and guidance needed to launch and sustain the new identity, including rollout planning, marketing resources, and recommendations for long-term use and adoption.

What does Pendleton mean to you?
Share your thoughts beginning March 26th, and help us discover a story that reflects our community.
